For Dorota Stalmach-Obuchowicz, Head of Creative at Libra Interiors, bringing those ideas together is all part of the job. Her role spans product development, interior design, visual merchandising, photography and branding, helping shape not only the collections themselves but also how customers experience them.
“There isn’t really a typical day,” she says. “My role varies depending on the time of year and the projects we’re working on.”
At the moment, her focus is split between finalising Libra’s Q1 buying collection for next year, overseeing several interior design projects, and preparing content for upcoming launches. Selecting fabrics, colours and textures, planning photography, creating branding assets and developing marketing materials all sit within the same week, making every day slightly different from the last.
From an Idea to a Finished Collection
Ask Dorota what she enjoys most, and the answer comes without hesitation. It’s the creative process.
“The part of my role I enjoy most is designing and developing new collections. It gives me a huge amount of drive and motivation.”
Long before a product exists, she has already imagined where it belongs. As ideas begin to form, she’s thinking about how each piece will sit within an interior, which materials will work together and what feeling the finished collection should create.
“I can often visualise how a collection will look within a space and identify what pieces, textures or finishes are needed to bring that vision to life.”
That early vision continues throughout the entire development process. Libra begins by reviewing existing collections, identifying future trends and exploring new materials and finishes before concepts are developed into CAD drawings. From there, the team works closely with suppliers through sampling, sourcing and production until the final product is ready.
Only then does the next chapter begin. Photography is planned, social content is created, and marketing materials are developed, ensuring every collection is introduced in a way that reflects the thinking behind it.
Inspiration Is Everywhere
For someone immersed in creativity every day, inspiration rarely comes from one place. Dorota draws ideas from nature, architecture, magazines, social media and everyday life, constantly noticing colour combinations, materials and composition. Yet she believes stepping away from that constant flow of inspiration is just as important.
"I find it really important to step away from all the input and give myself time to process it. Having moments of quiet reflection helps me filter everything I've seen and turn it into something more intentional and considered." That approach also shapes Libra's photography. Rather than simply finding an attractive location, each setting is chosen for its ability to complement the products and reinforce the story behind the collection.
"There is a huge amount of time, planning and attention to detail that goes into these projects that often isn't visible in the final result. Every element is carefully considered, from the overall concept and styling through to the smallest finishing details. It's not just about creating something visually appealing, but about building a complete narrative that reflects the brand and the products in the best possible way."
A Contemporary Vision
Looking back over her time at Libra, Dorota is most proud of helping shape the business into the contemporary interiors brand it is today.
From introducing new collections and responding to changing design trends to refining the brand’s visual identity, she has played a key role in creating a more cohesive creative direction.
Her own interior style reflects the same philosophy. Rather than filling a room with unnecessary detail, she believes in allowing materials to speak for themselves.
“I’m a huge advocate for balance and simplicity. I don’t like to overcomplicate things.” Natural materials, including marble, wood and richly textured fabrics, remain among her favourites, particularly when layered to create warmth and depth.
When asked what instantly makes a home feel inviting, her answer is refreshingly simple. “Balance, colour and texture. When these three elements are carefully considered and work in harmony, an interior instantly feels more cohesive and intentional.”
Creating Homes People Connect With
Ultimately, that's what Dorota hopes people take away from every Libra collection. "I hope people feel an immediate sense of inspiration and connection when they come across our brand. The aim is always for our spaces and products to feel accessible, considered and beautifully balanced, so that people can easily imagine them within their own homes."
For her, great interiors aren't about following trends or filling a space for the sake of it. They're about helping people find pieces they genuinely connect with.
"Ultimately, it's about creating interiors that feel lived in, loved and genuinely at home."
